Static Line / RAPS
Learn to do a parachute jump on your own from day one! The static line or Ram Air Parachute System (RAPS) is traditional route to learn to skydive. "Ram Air" refers to the "square" type of parachute that is used for the parachute jump. The "square" parachutes offer good manoeuvrability and a softer landing than the old fashion round canopies You will exit the aircraft from 3,500 feet where the main parachute is deployed automatically as you leave the aircraft.

You will be ready for your first parachute jump after a minimum of 6 hours ground schooling. On the course you will learn about your equipment, the deployment of the parachute, how to control your canopy and how to land. Then you are ready to go!

More

On completion of you training your instructor will check you and your equipment, sign to say you are ready to jump, come with you in the aircraft and dispatch you from the aircraft for your parachute jump. You will have a radio on you and a qualified instructor will talk you through the canopy control section should you require.

If you wanted to progress and achieve your internationally recognised "A" licence you would need to pass 8 categories. Each category represents one or more parachute jumps where certain goals need to be achieved. These are charged at £35.00 per jump.
